Mesquite Grand Canyon Parashant

Denis & Sandi Inman
Due to the length of the trip planned for Tuesday, our group of explorers left on our journey at 7:00 AM. We were down to only 6 Jeeps carrying me, Sherrie, Brian, Mike & Patti, Sel & Pam and Rick & Mary. After crossing the Virgin River, we headed Southeast on Lime Kiln Canyon Road, traversed the Virgin Mountains and entered Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument.
Passing through Cottonwood Wash, we soon ascended the Grand Wash Cliffs and headed towards Jump Canyon. We stopped for lunch in the vicinity of Tweedie Hollow then proceeded through Hobble Canyon to Wolf Hole Valley. At the junction of Mud Mountain Road and Elbow Canyon Road, the adventurers turned West and began making progress back towards Mesquite.
Along the way, we stopped for some photos from a lookout tower adjacent to 7368′ Black Rock Mountain. It wasn’t long before we were making the descent from the Virgin Mountains to Mesquite. We arrived back in town at about 4:30 after approximately 102 miles of trails. There was a forecast for possible rain, but despite the clouds and wind, we didn’t get a drop.
