Clark Canyon Snow Run

By Denis & Sandi Inman
Hello?
Wha’ da’ ya’ doin’?
Nothin’, wha’ da’ you doin’?
Nothin’. Hey, ya’ wanna’ go up to the Spring Mountains and play in the snow?
Sure!
So, Jeremy and I agreed on a place to meet and headed up the hill. We drove Gravel Pit Road past the Wulfenstein quarry on our way to Wheeler Pass Road then dropped down into the Wheeler Wash at the Wheeler-Wallace Connector Road. The snow was only a few inches deep, but it covered the trail well enough that challenging sections were difficult to spot. We thought it would be a good idea to get onto a wider, flatter road in case we came across a recovery situation.
Driving up Wheeler Wash almost to Wallace Canyon allowed us to jump over to the Clark Canyon Road that we took to the end. It had been snowing pretty good until we reached the gate that blocks access to Clark Spring. By now, the flakes were farther apart and we could begin to see some sunshine in the Pahrump area. We were only out about 2 1/2 hours, but we had a pretty good time.
