PV4W club run to South Nopah & Kingston Ranges

The forecast was for rain, but we didn’t get any precipitation until we were breaking for lunch at Crystal Spring off of Excelsior Mine Road and no significant rain until were were almost back in town at about 3:30. Brian, Jim, Jeremy and I attended the 6:50 drivers meeting and proceeded South on Homestead and across the dry lake at 7:00. Mesquite Valley Road took us to Western Talc Road where we explored the side trails and mines in that vicinity.

Spring Mountains & Spanish Trail

Jeremy put together a trail run and invited a few of his friends to come along. I was fortunate enough to be asked as well. Other invitees included Jim, Brian, John & Mike, Vic along with Mike & Patti. Our leader generously allowed me to run ahead of the main group at my own pace to set up for photos as the band of adventurers came up the trail.

Crystal Spring & Wood Canyon

Several of us did a short local trail run to Crystal Spring and Wood Canyon to see what the conditions would be like after some snow and rain. There were 5 participants in 4 Jeep Wranglers. I led while Jeremy & Vic followed in Vic’s rig. Behind them were Brian and Rick. Our group did not encounter any snow to deal with along the way, but a huge bonus was that we experienced absolutely no dust.

Snow in Carpenter Canyon

My friend Jeremy said he was going up towards Carpenter Canyon to see how far he could get in the snow and I asked if I could tag along. We had a little difficulty negotiating the track up to where we recently had the Spring Fling, but we were able to make it to the lower parking lot just shy of the very end of the trail.
